The RiZE Concept

We’re young staffs and managers who are 30 somethings, trying hard everyday, doing our best to build this dream and having a whole lot of fun in the process…and this is just mentioning the countless locals that help out each day to keep this place special.  Daisuke came to this village Wacholab, 5 years ago (Sept. 2000).  He came back because no matter where we went in the world, we couldn’t stop thinking about coming back here. 

We are learning as we go along on so many levels.  But we are trying our best everyday, we have passion, we offer real friend to friend relations to every guest who wants it, and we are working with the community members in every aspect of what we do…helping them, begging them to help us, teaching, motivating, giving any person or village who is interested an opportunity to grow and benefit from our business, and most of all enjoying and having fun with so many of our local friends and family.  This village, Wacholab,  is an experience of Yapese culture, custom and tradition.  There are no other foreign businesses on this part of the island and locals have come to accept our facilities as part of the village.  Therefore, guests can experience Yap and Yapese in a pure, honest, relaxed, and beautiful way.  We have explained our concept to the community and are grateful for how interested and willing they have been to share their lives and villages with our guests.

While we are full of raw, open, honest, and crazy adventures, our diving is highly professional and our food is fantastic…because we take diving and food very seriously!  We are terrible at selling, and often love to give a lot just for a smile or a reaction.  However, we are learning to take our product seriously and to feel good about charging people for what we have to offer.  A vacation in this village can be a quiet time spent on the beach and in the ocean, and it can also be a random and unique adventure with interesting characters and a fantastic view of Yap’s culture and people.

About Us

Daisuke Jomi, “Jo”, is the mastermind behind this creation.  Without him, none of this would be and we would have all given up a long time ago. He came to Yap in 2000, for 2 & 1/2 years, and built and managed a dive shop in this location, under different ownership.  He came back to Yap in 2004, after the island had been pummeled by a Super Typhoon, and convinced the exhausted resort owner, Al Ganang, and the people of this village that they could DEFINITELY rebuild this dream and make it much better than before.  The craziest and most obnoxious of us all, he’s a big kid with a HUGE heart.  Jo’s been working as a professional in the diving industry for over 13 years, and has worked all over the world, most recently with Werner Lau in the Maldive’s, Medufushi.  He feels more comfortable in water than on land and loves sharing his passion for Yap’s waters with guests, who feel safe and comfortable AND have a lot of fun diving with him.

YAP RiZE STAFFS will help make your vacation a memorable one. All of the staffs will bring out there character 100% just to enjoy and have fun with all of the guests. Everyone of our staffs are cute, sexy and friendly!! Maybe not sexy but sure cute and funny!!
