Yap has a shallow reef which changes the departure time everyday according to the tide. Usually 2 dives in the morning followed by lunch, and 3rd and 4th extra dives. You will expect the best visibility dives during full moon or new moon tides. @Tradewinds blow from northeast, November to June and southwest, June to November. The divepoints will change from east to west according to the tradewinds. Yap's Divesites Yap's Ocean is privately owned by the local people. Depending on the area we are not allowed to dive. Yap RiZE Divingcenter since it is in a village have previlege to different private dive sites on the north east side of Yap. Yap's divesites consists of outside the reef wall dives, inside the reef , channel dives and mangrove dives.

Outside
the reef most of the year great visibility from 25m-40m.Interesting
landscapes and one of Yap's favorite divespot for sharks the Vertigo
is outside the reef. There are interesting overhangs and caverns with
gorgeous coral life. |

| Channel in Yap, mostly known for our mantas. The 2 channels Gofnuw channel and Miils Channel is our manta points on both east and west side so even if the trade winds shift we can have mantas all year round. Both channels are situated on the northern side of the island giving RiZE divingcenter easy access, Gofnuw channel 5minutes and Miils channel 15 minutes to get to. The channel gives us other than the mantas a wide variety of macro life, eagle rays, schools of big eye trevaries, bump heads, snappers etc. Since RiZE is so close to the manta point we train our staffs of course for the mantas but other species in the manta channel. We have experienced guides to guide you everything there is in the manta channel. |

Inside
the reef we have our own private point Blue Hole which is famous
for the mantas during the month May to July and for a wide variety of
macro life. The underwater life here changes seasonally and if timing
is right schools of eagle rays, wide variety of sting rays, turtles,
leopard shark are somethings you can see. |

YAP Manta Cleaning Station The best attraction for Yap's diving is the Manta Rays. We can see them all year round and if you are lucky you might see them mating. The mantas comes back to Yap every year because all teh diveshops in Yap follow the rules so we don't chase the mantas away. But if you follow the rules, you might have a chance to experience the gorgeous mantas gliding right over your head. Manta Cleaning Station The cleaning stations for the mantas is a coral head where the cleaning wrasses live. The Mantas glide over these coral heads to have the cleaning wrasses come out and eat the bacteria off of there bodies. |

The mandarin fish are popular macro creatures for photographers. They come out during sunsets in areas close to the mangroves. We have a mandarin spot at Yap RiZE Divecenter 5 minutes away. They are very shy so we always take a group of 4 at each time and since this is our private point, you don't have to worry about sharing with other diveshops. |
